The Coordination Council of the Heads of Competent Authorities for Countering the Illicit Drug Trafficking discussed the problems of combating drug production in Afghanistan and the spread of new types of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances   


On June 8, 2017 in Minsk (Republic of Belarus), the nineteenth meeting of the Coordination Council of the heads of the competent authorities to counter the illegal was held in Minsk (Republic of Belarus), chaired by the State Secretary of the Russian Federation drug trafficking (CCBCD) of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).   


Deputy Secretary General of the CSTO Ara Badalyan, Deputy State Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Vtyurin, delegations of the competent authorities of the CSTO member states took part in the CCBCD meeting.  
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the problems of combating drug production in Afghanistan, the spread of new types of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances (“designer drugs”) in the area of ​​responsibility of the CSTO, as well as drug trafficking routes, increasing the role of the CCBCD in coordinating the activities of the region’s anti-drug forces in the context of political instability and the widespread expansion of terrorist organizations such as the Islamic State and the Taliban near the borders of the member states in the CSTO, as well as further improving the fight against transnational drug crime.   


The meeting participants agreed and decided on the following:  
1. Continue to develop practical cooperation between the departments of the competent authorities of the CSTO member states, including through joint anti-drug activities in the framework of the Regional anti-drug operation “Channel” aimed at countering Afghan drug trafficking, identifying and suppressing drug supply channels, and bringing drug dealers to criminal liability.


2. To organize the participation of the competent authorities of the CSTO member states in the second half of 2017 in the tactical and special exercises of the anti-drug departments and internal affairs bodies of the CSTO member states assigned to the special forces of the CSTO collective forces, called the GROM-2017 "And anti-drug operation" Channel ".   


Following the meeting, the Plan of the main events of the CCBCD for 2018, the decision on amending the CCBCD Regulations of the CSTO member states, the decision on approving the Regulations on the Working Group on the organization of anti-drug operations and other activities within the scope of the CCBCD, the appointment of Head and Deputy Head of the Working Group.
